Public Transportation: It’s pretty easy to take public transportation from Guatemala City to Lanquin. First you need to take a bus to Coban, then transfer to another bus to get to Lanquin. Below is the step by step instruction on how to take public transportation from Guatemala City to Lanquin:
- 1. Take a micro-bus (run by Transportes Monja Blanca) at Zona 1 in Guatemala City that goes to Coban.
Cost: 90 Quetzales ~$12 USD
Duration: 5h 30mins (including 15mins bathroom break) - 2. Once you get off the bus at Coban, find a bus that goes to Lanquin/Semuc Champey.
Cost: 30 Quetzales ~$4 USD
Duration: 2h 15mins
NOTE: Make sure you let the ticket collector know that you are going to Lanquin. As a tourist, they assume you are going to Semuc Champey directly. If you are going to Semuc Champey, you can continue on the bus (price and duration will be more than to Lanquin).
